Shri Anil Chand Mathur did his graduation and Post-graduation both, in
Mechanical Engineering from University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee) in the year
1977 and 1988 respectively. In September 1978, he joined as Scientist/Engineer
at Space Applications Centre, ISRO, Ahmedabad.
He has very rich experience in Mechanical Design, Fabrication, Assembly and
Installation of a number of large size Satellite Earth Station antennas for a
number of projects in the various parts of the country. He was actively involved
with the execution of the India’s largest Satellite Earth Station Project ie INSAT
Satellite Control Earth Stations (ISCES) under which two large size fully steerable
indigenously developed antennas were installed for the INSAT-MCF project at
Hassan in Karnataka. He was also involved in the design and development of a
number of Antenna and Feed systems for various Satellite projects like INSAT,
GSAT, RISAT, OCENSAT etc. He was designated as Project Manager of INSAT3A
and INSAT3C Spacecraft antenna projects in the year 1998.
He headed the Fabrication and Integration Section for many years before taking
over as Head of the Antenna Mechanical Design Division in the year 2000. Later in
the year in the year 2014, he was given the responsibility of Antenna Systems
Mechanical Group as Group Head and Group Director till his superannuation in
the year 2017.
He had published 50 papers on Antenna Design & Manufacturing in various
National and International conferences and Journals. He has two patents to his
credit.

Shri Mathur was instrumental in creating and establishing the “Space Society of
Mechanical Engineers (SSME)” at Ahmedabad. He held the post of Secretary, Vice
President and President of the SSME for many years. In the year 1994 he was
appointed as Organizing Secretary for organizing the first national level seminar
on “Mechanical Engineering Challenges in Development of Antennas” at SAC,
Ahmedabad. He has organized a number of national and international level
conferences on “Composite and SMART materials”.
He retired on Superannuation in April 2017 from ISRO, Ahmedabad as Group
Director, after working in various capacities for 39.5 years. He is presently actively
involved in spreading knowledge of Space Mechanical Engineering and sharing
his experiences to the young Mechanical engineering students and faculty
members in the country. He has started a micro venture named “Indian Space
Industry Exhibitors” in the year 2018 under MSME, New Delhi, to carry out Space
Education and Awareness related activities for the young students, faculty and
professional engineers.
In the year 2019, he established a Space Science Gallery at Ghaziabad (UP) near
Delhi for the awareness of the school and college students. During COVID-19 he
has written two books “Firsts in Space” and “ Remote Sensing and the Common
Man” for reading by Space Enthusiasts.
